Disney theme park foods are almost as famous as the characters the rides.
Afterall, what would a trip to Disney World be without those Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, ice cream treats and giant turkey legs?
But before you take a big meaty bite of that savory, smoky meat, consider this…is it really turkey?
The hugely popular menu item and favorite among Disney park visitors has long been the center of rumors and speculation about what type of meat those larger-than-life legs really are.
Zachary Levi, the voice of Flynn Rider in Disney’s “Tangled” and “Tangled Ever After” spilled some serious beans on “Conan” in an appearance that aired Thursday.
The talk show host could not believe what he was hearing and joked that Levi could be in hot water with his employer after revealing the “big secret” to legions of loyal Disney fans on national TV.
But is Levi telling the truth or just dredging up some fake news?
According a 2012 Orlando Sentinel report, Disney chefs are familiar with the rumor but say it is absolutely false.
“We hear that all the time,” Robert Adams, then-executive chef at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom confirmed to the paper. “They’re real turkeys. It’s what they are.”
But has the recipe changed since then?
A representative from Walt Disney World was not immediately available for comment.
