Antonio Conte wants ‘continuity’ at Stamford Bridge but could yet stun Chelsea by agreeing to join another elite club, his agent has confirmed.
The former Italy boss has enjoyed a remarkable debut season in England, taking the Blues 10 points clear at the top of the league and on the verge of a stunning title.
Conte has enhanced his reputation as one of the best managers in world football and, with substantial backing from the Chelsea board, looks set to enjoy several productive seasons in west London.
But the 47-year-old’s agent, Federico Pastorello, has indicated that his client could still be tempted to leave Stamford Bridge.
‘Will Conte stay at Chelsea? If he wins a title and begins the cycle the objective is one of continuity,’ Pastorello told Gianluca Di Marzio.
‘But if offers from clubs arrive, new opportunities may arise, especially at historical clubs.’
Conte was linked with Serie A giants Inter Milan earlier in the campaign, but the Blues boss was quick to pour cold water over the reports.
He said: ‘My situation is very clear. I have a contract with Chelsea. We are trying to do something important with the club, for the present, for the future.
‘Every coach, when you start work with a new club, you hope to stay many, many years, because it means you are working very well.
‘You have the possibility to improve your players, to improve your team and to grow together.’
Conte also hinted at his desire to stay at Chelsea for a prolonged period when discussing Eden Hazard’s future at the club.
